Strawberries

Today while talking with Dan and Traci about poopy diapers I remembered something really funny from when Julie, Mom and the kids were in town.  Owen had a dirty diaper and I told Jalie that their diapers were "scratch and sniff" and that the one he was wearing was strawberry.  Jalie without hesitating put her nose to his diaper and took a big whiff...  I'm such a bratty Aunt.  I'm sure Julie and/or Jalie will pay me back in the years to come.  Luckily Jalie was a good sport and laughed along with us.

Happy Friday

Today was a good Friday.  Dan is back to having every other Friday off and Traci was in town.  She loved all over the babies and we got to go to lunch.  It was great to get out with a wonderful friend and have time away.  It's always strange coming back to the babies after being gone, even if it's just an hour or so to grab lunch.  It's almost like I'm seeing them again for the first time.  They look and even smell different.  I can't imagine leaving them for a long amount of time.  Already starting to dread taking them to daycare..  Just need to enjoy the next few weeks.

Ouch!

At the babies two month check up they also got their immunization shots..ughh. Again our daddy was there for the though job of holding them down. I know he doesn't like it either but I don't think I could do it without losing it myself. Luckily the babies didn't have any adverse reactions and we returned home with our sweet babies.

It was a little cold outside so I thought they might need a hat. I don't think Paige agreed.

3 Months

Babies, yesterday you were three months old! We didn't have a real exciting day, mostly because mommy was sick but we did have a nice relaxing day. The real treat was that daddy was home with us too.

You guys keep us on our toes and I'm loving every minute of it. You are also doing a fabulous job of sleeping at night. You are both in your cribs by 9pm and sleep til 6am with the occasional need for mommy or daddy to give you your paci.

You both love to hear people talk to you and you respond with what is the sweetest sounds I have ever heard. We have been enjoying walks on most days and a few times it has been warm enough for me to leave you uncovered and you love to look around outside.

Although I don't want you to grow up because I want you to be my babies forever, I can't wait to see what the next three months will bring. Love you both with all of my heart!

Mommy and Owen

Last night I was able to get back to my mommy group and this time I took Owen along.  He was a good little baby!  The ladies made over his cuteness and Barbara bounced him around to give me a short break.  It was nice to get out and be around other new mommies but I felt a little guilty because daddy had just came back to town from Mississippi, but being the great hubby he is he understands how good it is for me to get out and was happy to let us take off for a few hours.

We are happy to have our daddy back!

Today our walk with neighbors Carla, Mateo and Molly was cut short due to the wind so we decided to come back to the house and she could teach me baby massage.  Paige was asleep so I practiced on Owen.  He seemed to enjoy it and I hope to do it regularly.  Paige got a shorter version when she woke up, she was all grins:)

On my own..

Mom, Julie and the kids just left and now the babies and I will do our best to stay merry over the next day or so until our daddy makes it back to us.  The visit was great and I'm very thankful for the help.  It was great to see the babies interact with Jalie and Ross.  Paige LOVED Ross...  Each time he talked to her she stayed glued to him and gave him some of her biggest smiles.  Jalie did a great job of keeping them entertained by reading and singing to them, she was also a great help with baths and changing diapers.

Mom, Julie and I had a great time giving each other heck, of course..  We forced granny to walk with us. The walk included a big hill which Jalie at the top yelled "GO Granny Go!" HA!  It was a lot of fun to get out of the house with everyone.  Oh and I must not forget the babies had their first trip to the mall.  Aunt Julie promised to buy Paige all the shoes she could ever want.  After walking around for a bit I quickly regretted taking them in the first place, too many people, too many germs..

The Whole Enchilada...

Many babies are born thumb suckers.  Take Jalie for instance, I think she came out sucking her thumb and hasn't stopped since. Neither of the babies have found their thumbs, even though daddy has tried hard.  Our little Paige does however suck on her fist.  Yes the entire thing!  The best is when she takes a break during feeding to burp and gets a hold of her little fist, it's adorable. She's adorable!

Away.

Today Daddy has to leave us for the first time to attend Mo Waldon's funeral in Mississippi.  It will not be a easy trip for him and Nana. Really wish I was able to go and be there with the family but getting the babes on an airplane does not seem like a good idea this time of year.  Four to five days without Daddy makes me a little nervous but Aunt Julie and Granny are coming to help out.  When I asked they were more than happy to come for a visit.  Aunt Julie said "absolutely", I know she can't wait to get her hands on these babies again.  Ross is missing a hunt this weekend.  When Julie gave him the choice he said "Aunt Carrie is more important than hunting". Gotta love that kid!

Holy Spit Up!

Feeding both babies at once can get pretty interesting at times.  Thanks to boppy pillows I able to complete the task most times without any real difficulty.  After the last feeding however I'm contemplating moving to the futon and putting down a towel to make clean up a little easier.  To really save on clean up and time we could all take our clothes off, Ha!  After the last bottle (which baby Paige downed in record time) both babies unloaded on themselves, me, the couch and the floor.  It wasn't pretty, but we are all in clean clothes and the babies now lay semi-happily in their bassinet in mommy and daddy's room knocking their toys around.

MO

Tonight Ben and Amy came over to see the twins for the first time.  They were kind enough to bring dinner, mmm pizza.  The visit was very nice being that I went all day just talking baby talk.  Unfortunately the night did not end so well.  We got a call from Jon letting us know that Mo passed away.  Mo's health had been going down over the past year and over the last few weeks she was losing weight.  Even with all of that it's hard to imagine that she is gone.  Geri was able to visit her a few weeks ago and I'm so glad they had a good visit.  I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with her but in the time that I did spend with her I felt loved and enjoyed her company.  Two years ago Mo came to live in LC for several months and I spent many evenings hanging out with her.  We would laugh about things on TV, go for drives, and she would always share her special snacks with me.  Her time in LC was special for Dan and Geri and I'm glad that I was able to have that time with her as well.  I really wish she could have meet the twins.  It's hard now knowing that none of our grandparents will ever know our babies.

Big Day!

Today seems full and long in a good way.  The babies slept in after the 4am feeding til 8:30!  Thank you babies:)  Then we had a skype date with Aunt Alicia and Tony.  She was able to see the babies for the first time and I got a virtual tour of her house in Germany.  I have this dream that they will move back to Las Cruces and I will have my best friend back.

After our time with Alicia it was a quick bottle then off for a walk.  We started out with both babies awake and I heard a giggle from Owen's seat..  I quickly glanced under the blanket and he had a grin from ear to ear and was looking at his little froggy friend that hangs out on his car seat handle.  I haven't heard it again since even though I've tried.  I was able to grab a short nap after the walk then Nana showed up for a visit.  We have since enjoyed play time on the floor complete with tummy time, a nice meal and now we are winding down.

Doesn't sound like a whole lot but for this mama it's a lot.

Papaw!

Today Papaw left after his second two week visit since the twins arrived.  Usually saying goodbye is sad because we always enjoy our visits.  However, these last two visits, saying goodbye is a serious bummer, especially for me:(  Papaw is a super trooper when it comes to all things babies.  He changes diapers, wakes up at 4 am to feed, lays on the floor to entertain, and rocks...  Not only does Papaw take good care of our babies but he also takes good care of us.  This visit he cooked numerous meals, my favorite being waffles with fruit and whipped topping, yummm!  He also (again) organized our garage making getting to things much easier and put together our double stroller (yes!).  Now if only I can convince him to move in with us!!  Love and already miss you!

Getting started..Finally..For real this time!

Ahhh.. Where to start?  Starting a blog is something I knew I wanted to do once I found out that I was pregnant.  The idea was to write all about being pregnant, the growing belly, my doting husband, the swollen ankles.  But, here we are and the TWINS are 10 weeks!  So do I back track? Start at present day? Other questions I have.  Should I write directly to the babies, to myself, or simply report on the fun, exciting, and beautiful moments we will share?  I have no idea what the answers are and I'm sure it will not be the most organized blog, however, it will be a great way to share our lives with friends and family and remember all the special moments both big and small.
